IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON BUILDING YOUR DECK

When fixing timber to steel using the Bremick 14G Winged Truss Head Screw, ensure pressure is applied to the board being fixed. This prevents separation of the board from the metal joist. This is most critical when installing the first screw on a new board. USE ONLY No.3 SQUARE DRIVE BIT. INSTALLER KNEELS ON BOARD - BOARD IS HELD TIGHT TO JOIST. Failure to apply pressure to the board causes separation and creates a reverse force effect. This reduces pressure on the wings when they reach the steel joist. This pressure minimisation may prevent the wings from breaking off as they are designed to do. It is important that firm pressure is maintained both on the board and through the driver when the screw reaches the steel. This will ensure that the wings break off. CAUTION: Allowing the wings to spin on the steel without adequate pressure may cause them to ream an oversize hole in the metal joist. DRIVE SCREW UNTIL FLUSH WITH SURFACE OF BOARD. OVERDRIVING MAY RESULT IN STRIPPING OR UNDUE STRAIN ON SCREW POST INSTALLATION.

Please note the following: This screw is designed for metal joists between 1.5 - 2.5 mm thick, with 2.0mm being the optimum specification. Due to differing rates of expansion between timber and metal, excessive sheer forces may exist in certain conditions. Bremick recommends consultation with appropriate engineers when designing decks with a steel substrate. Proper conformance to local regulations and building code should also be adhered to when designing and building a deck. Bremick recommends immediate oil based treatment of decking boards. Bremick does not recommend the use of treated pine when fixing to steel. DO NOT USE ACID BASED DECK CLEANERS AS THEY ARE CORROSIVE TO METAL
